Today I’m going to share two very easy products you CAN make at home. All that is involved is mixing, melting, and pouring. Just about anyone can do that, right?
Over Christmas I made some wonderful hard lotion bars (pictured above). Many of my friends and family liked them so much they have requested more! They are perfect for rubbing on dry skin (they really do work well).
I used the recipe from Made On: Hard Lotion. She is so generous to share it with the world. I really appreciate this since she is also in business selling these bars.
Made On also sells kits with all the ingredients you need to make your own. I purchased my ingredients from, you guessed it, Mountain Rose Herbs!
I only tried the Hair Butter recipe from Made On and was pleasantly surprised. It is also very simple, containing only a few ingredients.
I cut the recipe in half since I didn’t know how it would turn out. Half is more than enough if you want to make one jar (or even two).
The hair butter is designed for dry, coarse hair.
Both recipes are on the same page of the Made On website (scroll down a little). There is also a video.
These items take a mere few minutes to prepare, and create products you will use for a long time. I like and recommend them both!
Here are a few other mix, melt and pour recipes I have shared before (that would make great Mother’s Day gifts):
Homemade Belly Butter for the Pregnant Mama
Since Mother’s Day is coming up very soon, I thought it might be fun to do a Handmade Mother’s Day Link-Up here at Delighting in the Days. It will be up on Monday and open until Thursday. Anyone can link up with a handmade gift idea or tutorial. (More details and a button coming soon.)

I love the MadeOn products and have been thinking of making some of my own too! I made soap a month or two ago, and my daughter (10yrs) was wanting to help, but could not much because of the lye. I’m thinking that making lotion bars would be a better activity for her to help with.
What did you use for your mold?
I used a muffin tin. It worked great.
I think it would be an excellent project for your daughter.
