Homemade Natural All-Purpose Cleaner

Making natural cleaners is a good choice for two reasons:

  1. Natural cleaners save money
  2. Using natural cleaners helps us avoid the toxic chemicals found in many conventional cleaning products.

Here’s a bonus reason:

The kids can help clean!

When you make your own cleaning products, you know exactly what’s included and can let the kids help wth the cleaning (of course that depends on age and what you are using to make the products, but in general, it’s a great option!).

Today I want to share a simple natural cleaning product that is extremelly easy to make and very effective at removing dirt and grime.

It’s prefect for cleaning a grimy stovetop or sticky fingerprints on the fridge!

Simple Homemade All-Purpose Cleaner Recipe

This recipe can be made in a matter of minutes! You’ll love how easy it is!

You will need:

  • 2 cups distilled water
  • 2 tablespoons liquid castile soap
  • 10-20 drops of orange or lemon essential oil
  • Glass spray bottle (I love the bottles from Grove Collaborative – which you can get for FREE until Sunday, click here for details)

Add water, castile soap, and 10-20 drops of essential oil to a spray bottle and shake well.

For tough messes, spray it on, wait 5 minutes, and scrub with the Grove walnut scrubber sponge.

See how simple that is?

Most other natural cleaning recipes are just as easy.

If you want to make more natural cleaners, I have a great way to get you started:

Note about Glass Spray Bottles:
I have several of these Grove Collaborative glass spray bottles and love them for natural cleaning products (and room sprays!).

I prefer to store my homemade cleaning products in glass, since essential oils can break down plastic over time.

I stash all my bottles and supplies in the Grove Collaborative enamel cleaning caddy. It’s one of those things I’ve always wanted but would never buy for myself. Now that I have it, it’s made putting together my essential toxin-free kit a breeze!

I use Grove myself (and have for 2 years now!):
Grove makes it easier to create a healthy home. It also makes it more affordable.

Just tell Grove what you like, and they’ll deliver a box of fabulous natural products (carbon offset) right to your doorstep, on your schedule.

Each month, you’ll get an email reminding you to add any items you’re running low on to your shipment. I love that I no longer have to make mad dashes to the store for dish soap or toilet paper!
