I know they look like lip balm! But they are scented perfume sticks!
Carry them in your pocket and apply at any time.
Scented with essential oils, these perfume sticks are all-natural. Woo-hoo!
How to make Solid Perfume Sticks
I have adapted this recipe from My Buttered Life Personal Care edition
Ingredients
2 tablespoons sweet almond oil (buy at Mountain Rose Herbs or Amazon)
1 tablespoon apricot kernel oil (buy at Mountain Rose Herbs or Amazon)
1/4 cup beeswax pastilles (buy at Mountain Rose Herbs or Amazon)
3/4 teaspoon essential oil (like lavender or sweet orange)
1. Add beeswax and oils to a heavy duty glass measuring jar (make sure it's heat proof. Use a canning jar if you are not sure).
2. Place jar in a pot and pour water into the pot so it comes up the sides of the jar (past the ingredients inside the jar).
3. Warm the water and ingredients over medium heat.
(You could also melt everything in a double boiler instead).
3. Remove from heat, stir in the essential oils and pour into lip balm tubes.
4. Allow to harden before covering with a lid.
Pretty easy, right?
Kim
Is there a substitute for Apricot Kernel Oil? I’d prefer not to buy it if only 1 T is needed. Thanks for the great idea.
Stacy
You can leave it out and substitute sweet almond oil instead.
Kim
Thanks!
Elaine
Good morning. Love the perfume stick recipe! What container are you using to hold the perfume stick. I make my own deodorant and reuse old deod. containers but would love to find something new.
Thanks bunches
Linda
Where do you find the empty lip balm tubes?
Stacy
Linda,
You can buy lip balm tubes on Mountain Rose Herbs and Amazon.com. I’ve purchased from both places and been happy 🙂

Any substitutions for almond oil, or coconut products? I have a child with severe allergies so I don’t allow any of these products in my home.
Krystal
Since you are replacing the tropical and nut oils, try using grape seed oil. Extra virgin olive oil would work as well, but grape seed you be a little better. You could even blend it with pure vitamin E oil.
Stacy
Grapeseed oil or olive oil would be fine substitutes for the almond oil. I’m not sure about the coconut as yet, since it is unique in the way it hardens as it cools. I will see what I can find as a suitable substitute for the coconut oil.
GEORGE
FIS THERE AN SUBSTITUTE FOR THE BEESWAX THAT CAN BE USED?
Krystal
George, the beeswax is what makes it a solid and keeps it from being an oily mess. I’m not aware of a good substitute that would not have to be refrigerated or disposed of within a few days or a week.
Stacy
Hi George,
Two alternatives to beeswax are Candelilla Wax and Carnauba Wax. I haven’t use either as yet so am not certain of how they would work in this recipe. Mountain Rose Herbs carries caranauba wax. It does cost a little more than beeswax.
Amazon sells Candelilla wax (it’s a bit cheaper).
Hope that helps.
Milly
I would like to know how many sticks does this recipe produce.
Stacy
It makes around 15 perfume sticks.
Kayla
What is the scent like and can you change the scent?
Patricia
Hi Stacy
Got your website from your ebook “Simple and Natural – Green Cleaning Guide” from purchasing 86 ebooks bundle. The book is interesting and has a lot of ideas of making cleaners without chemcials – that’s awesome. Unable to access both the books as recommended by you “31 days to Clean and Clean Enough” I also just signed up for your weekly newsletter.
Warmly

Thanks for letting me know you are finding the eBook interesting. I’m sorry you are having trouble accessing the other books I mentioned.
Here are the links, if you would like to try them:

Hi there. I am really enjoying your website, it’s amazing and so inspirational. I am looking forward to making the solid perfume sticks, however, I do not have beeswax pastilles but rather solid beeswax. How many ounces of that is equivalent to 1/4 of pastilles??
Thanks so much
Karen
Love these sticks. By switching the oils, you can make them into mosquito repellant sticks that are so easy to transport or keep in your purse. I used a combo of citronella, lemongrass and lavender (1/4 tsp each). Kids love using them vs getting sprayed with bug repellent. Smelled nice too!

Awesome idea!!! Thanks so much for sharing.

Do you have a printer friendly version?
Stacy
I’m sorry. Liz, I don’t have a printer friendly version. I need to fix that!

Hi, like this idea, but essential oils should never be heated… so, if you want to keep them from being damaged, make this and add the oils after you take it from the heat and it cools a bit… 🙂

My friend recommended I’d potentially like this web site. He was once totally proper. This kind of publish definitely produced the day time. You should not think about exactly how a good deal period I’d used due to this information and facts! Thank you!

The other day, while I was at work, my sister stole my iphone and
tested to see if it can survive a twenty five foot drop, just so she
can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and
she has 83 views. I know this is totally off topic
but I had to share it with someone!

Hello!
I was just wondering if anybody knows the shelf life of this product after it is made? Thanks!
